- Slow down: Scammers often create a sense of urgency by requesting immediate action. Take a moment to review the content and question the action being requested.
- Don’t send: Scammers often pretend to be someone they’re not by copying a username or using a familiar photo. Reputable brands like OrbitRemit will only ever contact you from their official platforms and will never ask for personal information on social media channels.
- Check links: If someone messages you out of the blue and asks you to click on a link, download a file or send money, it is likely a scam. Double check details before following through with these actions. If you feel that the information is confusing or doesn’t make much sense, you’re probably right.
- Report suspicious activity: If you come across any account that you suspect is fake or engaging in suspicious activity, report it immediately.
