How to stay safe online

At OrbitRemit, your safety is our top priority. We know how important it is to safeguard your hard earned money and are committed to ensuring the security of your financial transactions.

Unfortunately, there are people online who may try to take advantage of those sending money overseas. In today’s digital world, we all need to have heightened awareness of scammers and scamming techniques that may be encountered.

Scammers use a variety of techniques to try and extract money and information from you, including creating panic or impersonating an individual or brand they are not. Here are some steps to take when faced with a potential scam.

  • Slow down: Scammers often create a sense of urgency by requesting immediate action. Take a moment to review the content and question the action being requested.
  • Don’t send: Scammers often pretend to be someone they’re not by copying a username or using a familiar photo. Reputable brands like OrbitRemit will only ever contact you from their official platforms and will never ask for personal information on social media channels.
  • Check links: If someone messages you out of the blue and asks you to click on a link, download a file or send money, it is likely a scam. Double check details before following through with these actions. If you feel that the information is confusing or doesn’t make much sense, you’re probably right.
  • Report suspicious activity: If you come across any account that you suspect is fake or engaging in suspicious activity, report it immediately.

Please note, OrbitRemit will never ask for your personal information or financial details through Instagram or Facebook messages or comments. If you ever question the authenticity of a person or account claiming to be us, please get in touch with us through our official contact information.
