What do I need to make a payment to the IRD?

Before starting your transfer to Inland Revenue (IRD) through OrbitRemit, make sure you have the following details ready.

What you'll need

1. Your IRD number This is your unique tax identification number issued by Inland Revenue. You can find it on any correspondence from the IRD or through your myIR account.

2. Your tax type This is the category of tax you are paying — for example, Student Loan Borrower (SLS) is the most common. For a full list of supported tax types, see: What IRD tax types can I transfer to?

OrbitRemit is unable to advise which tax type applies to your situation. If you are unsure, please contact the IRD directly before starting your transfer.

3. Tax year (student loan payments only) If you are making a payment towards your student loan, you will also need to know the tax year you want the payment credited to.

If you are unsure which tax year to select, contact the IRD before proceeding.

Once you have all of the above, you're ready to start your transfer.
