What is biometric verification?

Biometric verification is the process OrbitRemit uses to confirm that you are who you say you are. As a licensed and regulated financial services provider, we are required to verify the identity of every customer before processing transfers.

Because we never meet our customers in person, we use biometric verification software to match your identity document to a selfie you take during the process. This allows us to confirm that the person completing the transfer is the same person who registered the account.

How does it work?

The software compares your facial features from your selfie against the photograph in your identity document. Accepted documents include:

  • Passport
  • Driver's licence (from select issuing countries)
  • Australian photo card

You will be guided through the process step by step and just need to follow the prompts.

Why does OrbitRemit require this?

Biometric verification helps us protect your account and personal information from unauthorised use. It also ensures we meet our obligations as a regulated financial services business to verify every customer's identity.
