How do I complete biometric verification?

Biometric verification is a one-time step required before your first transfer. It confirms that you are who you say you are, and helps keep your account secure.


What you'll need

  • A valid (unexpired) ID document — accepted documents include:
    • Passport
    • Driver's licence (from select issuing countries)
    • Australian photo identification card
  • A device with a working camera (webcam on computer, or camera on mobile phone)
  • An OrbitRemit account — sign up here if you haven't already

On web

  1. Log in to your OrbitRemit account and confirm you have a working webcam. If you don't have a webcam, complete verification via the mobile app instead.
  2. Check that your name and date of birth in your account match exactly what appears on your ID document, then click Start Biometric Verification.
  3. Select your document type. Make sure the issuing country is set correctly — click Choose issuing country if your document is from another country.
  4. Click Capture image to photograph your document.
  5. Check that all details are clearly readable — pay close attention to your document number and date of birth. If everything is clear, click Continue. If not, click Capture new image to try again.
  6. You'll then be asked to take a live selfie. Position your face within the frame and follow the on-screen prompts. Pre-saved photos are not accepted.

On mobile

  1. Download the OrbitRemit app on iOS or Android.
  2. Enable your phone's camera.
  3. Check that your name and date of birth in your account match exactly what appears on your ID document, then tap Start Verification.
  4. Select your document type. Make sure the issuing country is set correctly — tap Change country if your document is from another country.
  5. Select your document type once the correct country is set.
  6. Place your document in the centre of the frame to scan it.
  7. Check that all details are clearly readable — pay close attention to your document number and date of birth. If everything is clear, tap Readable. If not, tap Retake to capture a better image.
  8. You'll then be asked to take a live selfie. Position your face within the frame and follow the on-screen prompts. Pre-saved photos are not accepted.

Tips for a successful verification

  • Make sure your entire document is visible in the frame — nothing should be cut off
  • Avoid glare or reflections on your document — adjust the lighting or angle if needed
  • You must be the only person visible in your selfie
  • Check all text on your document is sharp and readable before submitting
